The Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she entered the competition to become the next princess of IllĂ©a, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen—and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she's made her choice . . . and she's prepared to fight for the future she wants.

Find out who America will choose in The One, the enchanting, beautifully romantic third book in the Selection series!
I really enjoyed this book!! This is definitely, without a doubt, the best book in this series so far!

America: She really impressed me with how she reacted to everything in this book. You can really see how much she matured in this book from the first and second book. She also stopped being as selfish as she was in the first two books. But she really annoyed me when she was like: "I should tell Aspen that I don't love him anymore...but not now...later...." And I was like:

Go and tell Aspen before it becomes a bigger problem!!!!!!!!

Maxon!: Oh my god!! All I can say about Maxon now is that he has definitely gotten a LOT more swoon worthy!

Aspen: Well I can't say that I loved him in this book (or any of the other books), but this book definitely made me feel the most emotion I've ever had towards him. Most of the book, I felt really bad for Aspen because America obviously wasn't going to choose him. But honestly, if I were Aspen, I would've left America a long time ago...

Maxerica: I loved how America and Maxon learned to trust each other and find out what love truly is in this book!! They are such a cute couple!!!!!!!!

But some parts of their relationship were kind of frustrating. Like when America won't tell Maxon that she loves him because she is waiting for him to say it first, while he is waiting for her to say it first. WHAT??!! You both know that you love each other!! Why couldn't it just be like:

The Plot:
It was good, but I think that it wasn't necessary for some of the characters to have died. I mean, like there was no reason that it had to happen. And people die, but the characters that manage to stay alive pretty much have NO REACTION to the death of someone that they liked!! That part really didn't make sense for me and kind of made me annoyed with the characters.

The Ending:
The ending was way too rushed to be that good. It seemed like Kiera Cass was running out of things to write, so just ending up slapping together the first happily ever after ending that she could think of.

This book definitely wasn't perfect but it was a really cute and enjoyable book.

Favorite Quotes:
Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.
America, my love, you are sunlight falling through trees. You are laughter that breaks through sadness. You are the breeze on a too-war day. You are clarity in the midst of confusion.

You are not the world, but you are everything that makes the world good. Without you, my life would still exist, but that's all it would manage to do.

You said that to get things right one of us would have to take a leap of faith. I think I've discovered the canyon that must be leaped, and I hope to find you waiting for me on the other side.

I love you, America.

Yours forever,
“Maxon, some of those marks are on your back so they wouldn't be on mine, and I love you for them.”

He stopped breathing for a second. “What did you say?”

I smiled. “I love you.”

“One more time, please? I just—”

I took his face in both of my hands. “Maxon Schreave, I love you. I love you.”

“And I love you, America Singer. With all that I am, I love you.”
But even now I know this isn't a fairy tale. I know that we'll have hard times, confusing times. I know that things won't always happen the way we want them to and that we'll have to work to remember that we chose this. It won't be perfect, not all the time.

This isn't happily ever after.

It's so much more than that.

  1. Great review! I love your blog by the way! I can't wait to read this! I love Maxon but I liked Aspen in the beginning as well, however he got on my nerves by the second book. I hate how he dropped America like she was a hand grenade and then came crying back to her! You should link up to my Sunday Swoons feature!
