ReviewThe thing that originally made me want to read the book was the cover. I mean, isn't it freaking gorgeous?! Another thing that made me want to read this was the synopsis. I admit, it does sound a little cliche, and the story, itself, also has quite a few cliches as well, but I still found it enjoyable.
One of my favorite thing about this book would definitely be the humor! There were times the conversations that Adrian and Caitlin were having started to make me crack up. XD
The relationship between Caitlin and Adrian was really enjoyable to read. I loved how they started off as friends and then became more. I feel as if that gives their relationship so much more meaning and that it makes them know each other better. And it makes the whole thing seem so much sweeter. I honestly had my doubts about Adrian in the beginning because at first he seems to just be shallow and rich; basically like how a stereotypical vampire is portrayed in YA most times. But after you get to know Adrian a bit better, you could totally see how sweet and nice he was!
I'm super excited for the next book because the ending of this book was just so abrupt and I really need to know what happens next!! I would definitely recommend this book ;)
"Caitlin," he murmured. "If you tell anyone that I was the little spoon, there will be consequences."
I laughed into his shirt. "Admit it – you like being the little spoon. I'm a fantastic big spoon."
I scoffed. “Why would I fall in love with you? You’re just a hot, closet-nerd vampire with a bazillion dollars and a Harley. There’s absolutely nothing attractive about you.”
“I'm repulsive, I know.”
“Just for the record, saying ‘The surprise hasn't started yet’ while pulling something out of your pants pocket is super creepy.”
“Yeah,” I heard him say, “I regretted it immediately, but it was too late to switch to something else.”
Temple West, debut author of the YA paranormal romance Velvet, is as nerdy in real life as she is on the Twitter. Armed with a very shiny English degree, she spent four months in Oxford holed up at the Radcliffe Camera amongst the hush of ancient books and the rich musk of academia. Returning to Los Angeles, she acquired a concurrent degree in film, mostly as an excuse to write essays about The Princess Bride and Hook. She can sew (poorly), drive stick (please fasten your seatbelt), and mostly lift her feet off the ground while stuttering into first gear on a very small motorcycle. She currently lives in Seattle and is the proud mother to a one-year-old laptop and a vintage Remington typewriter.
